You have got to add more information to an article beyond "such-and-such is a song by R.E.M." It's leaving a lot of work for others to fix. Thanks. - 67.52.188.182 16:42, 24 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That's all the information I have. Are you going to redirect all of the songs? A category for R.E.M. songs has all ready been posted. --Numberonedad 16:46, 24 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Then please do a little bit of research online to find out more. Keep the end user in mind. Who wrote the song? Did it chart? Is it based on another melody? Are there any technical tricks that make it stand out? There's a ton of info just waiting on Google. - 67.52.188.182 16:52, 24 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't that like stealing? If you get something off of the internet it's like your taking the site's information and putting it on Wikipedia. If your sure I will try and find some more information but I don't want to get into trouble. --Numberonedad 16:55, 24 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, yes and no. A direct cut-and-paste is a violation of copyright law. Definite no-no. However, using the information from other sources and putting it in your own words is perfectly acceptable. I think I see the problem here. If you're afraid of violating copyright law, don't be. Just make sure it's in your own words is all. Good luck. - 67.52.188.182 18:45, 24 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Your question about categories is answered here. A good guideline is to ask "would this article be useful to someone curious about this topic?" -Wiccan Quagga 01:13, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think you both forgot to mention citing your sources. If you take something from the Internet, even if you put it into your own words, you should still cite the sources that you used. --65.8.4.15 (talk) 22:41, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
